Brew Dr. is more than a beverage company. We're part of this planet and take our responsibility to take care of it seriously. That’s why we joined 1% For The Planet, an internationally respected nonprofit that brings together a global network of businesses, nonprofits, and individuals who commit to giving back 1% of their profits to environmental causes.

While 1 percent may not sound like much, it’s making an enormous difference in the world. Since its inception in 2002, 1% For The Planet members have donated hundreds of million dollars to local and global environmental nonprofits. These are organizations that fight to sustain and improve our climate, food, land, water, air and wildlife.

Good For The Planet

Brew Dr. Kombucha — Love

As a proud member of 1% For The Planet, Brew Dr. donates 1 percent of every bottle sold of our Love kombucha to nonprofit organizations focused on issues such as sustainable farming and environmental education. We are proud to have donated more than $350,000 to local nonprofits and charities.

Our longtime partner is Ecology in Classrooms and Outdoors, a Northwest nonprofit dedicated to providing students with hands-on science curriculum in schools and in the field. We believe the return on that giving is immeasurable, benefiting people and our planet for decades to come.

Good For People

At Brew Dr., we are committed to fostering a culture of antiracism, within our walls and beyond. We realized our giving must go further and help dismantle systemic racism within our community as well. Since July 2020, we have committed 1% of our Uplift sales to BIPOC social justice organizations, as selected by employees. Our current partners are:

  • Black Futures Farm, a Portland, Oregon-based Black coalition of farmers working to eradicate food deserts in Portland. BFF, part of the Black Food Sovereignty Coalition, operates on the largest urban farm in Portland, Learning Gardens Lab.
  • Mudbone Grown, a Black-owned farm enterprise that promotes intergenerational community-based farming that creates measurable and sustainable environmental, social, cultural, and economic impacts in communities.

In addition to our donation commitments, we're proud to be the first national kombucha company to become a Certified B Corporation. B Corps continually meet the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility, accountability, and transparency. There are over 3,700 B Corps nationwide and it’s an honor to join the ranks of amazing companies like Ben & Jerry’s and Patagonia.

Part of our environmental sustainability efforts includes using 100 percent renewable energy in our manufacturing process, saving at least 1.42 million pounds of CO2 from entering our atmosphere every year. We go a step further to keep carbon emissions at a minimum by sourcing our kombucha ingredients from local suppliers whenever possible. We also reduce waste by repurposing the alcohol distillate byproduct of our brewing process into bioethanol fuel.

We share these commitments to inspire other companies and individuals to discover what they can do to benefit our planet. This planet is the only one we have, and each of us must do our part to take care of her. It’s our collective responsibility to nurture nature any way we can.
