We’re Proud to be B Corp Certified
We’re proud to be the first major kombucha company to become a Certified B Corporation!
So, what is a B Corp? Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions not only on their shareholders, but also on their stakeholders (e.g., workers, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment).
The process to become a Certified B Corporation requires companies to complete the B Impact Assessment. This is a rigorous, tailored evaluation that measures a company’s impact on its workers, community, environment, and customers. It shows companies the areas in which they excel and provides a roadmap for continuous improvement. The threshold to become a Certified B Corporation is 80 points. Brew Dr. scored a 91.3, and we are dedicated to continually making business decisions that help this number grow.
You may be wondering, “What other companies are Certified B Corp?” Well, today, there are over 2,600 Certified B Corpations around the globe, including New Seasons Market, Miir, Ben & Jerry’s, and Patagonia, to name a few. You can find an inclusive list of B Corps here.
At Brew Dr., we’re proud to focus our efforts on sustainability innovation and community giveback. Our 100% renewable energy initiative saves 1.42 million pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere every year. That’s equivalent to taking 140 cars off the road annually. In terms of community giveback, we are excited to say that 85% of our ingredients are sourced from the Pacific Northwest, which reduces carbon emissions and keeps money in the local economy. And lastly, we repurpose 100% of our alcohol distillate. This natural byproduct of our responsible brewing process is turned into tasty tea-based spirits or further distilled into pure ethanol to help power your car.
At Brew Dr. Kombucha, we believe in using business as a force for good, making decisions based on the belief that people and planet are just as important as profit. That’s why we are so honored and excited to become a Certified B Corporation. We strive to be the change we seek in our world, balancing profit with purpose, and considering people and place in every decision we make.
