Brew Dr. Partners with Black Futures Farm

The tagline for Brew Dr.'s new Uplift Yerba Mate is "Uplift Yourself. Uplift Your World." But it's more than just a catchy marketing phrase. Since the summer of 2020, Brew Dr. has been donating 1% of all Uplift revenue to BIPOC social justice organizations.

The two organizations that funds are going to in 2021 are Mudbone Grown and Black Futures Farm (BFF).

We actually started donating to Black Futures Farm in 2020 and have been so impressed by their work that we decided to continue the partnership for the full year of 2021.

Based in Portland, Oregon, BFF is a Black coalition of farmers working to eradicate food deserts. BFF, part of the Black Food Sovereignty Coalition, operates on the largest urban farm in Portland, Learning Gardens Lab.

So far, the donated funds have provided 50 extra-large food boxes for local families, helped to pay for the wages of three farm interns, and purchased additional solar panels to provide sustainable energy on the farm. (Check back here later in the year for updates on the continued contributions!)

Additionally, the local Brew Dr. team is taking advantage of the opportunity to physically volunteer at Black Futures Farm as we continue this partnership and learn from the work that Malcolm and Mirabai (co-directors of BFF) are leading.

If you would personally like to volunteer at BFF, you can apply to do so here, and you can make donations to the organization here.

Next time you're enjoying a tasty can of Uplift Yerba Mate, be inspired by the way Black Futures Farm is uplifting the community!
