DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE – PORTLAND, OR

Purpose: The Food & Beverage Director for Townshend’s Tea Company will be responsible for the full management of all food and beverage sold at our teahouses. This includes all aspects of product development, direction/implementation, and process organization. The DFB will work most closely with all Oregon locations. Some attention will also be given, albeit less, to our remote Utah and Montana locations.

Reports to: CEO

Job Duties:

  • Develop and manage food & beverage program and day to day operations within budgeted guidelines at each teahouse location
  • Source all ingredients and other inputs including teas and other inputs
  • Identify trends and plan a calendar of seasonal innovation
  • Measure quality and consistency of food and beverages being prepared across all locations
  • Train teahouse staff on all process improvements
  • Work with GM to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Work with marketing team to create and deploy menu updates and other in-store promotion
  • Work with marketing team to source and plan in-store tea merchandise retail items

The Basics for the Position:

  • A passion for understanding and enjoying tea, and a special fondness for Townshend’s in particular
  • A demonstrable ability to understand and appreciate the customer
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to strategize and lead a team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel

Candidate should have:

  • 2+ years of proven food and beverage management experience
  • An understanding of current food trends and what drives the customer experience
  • 2+ years of leadership and supervisory experience
  • Culinary background and/or degree a plus
