CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in hemp and marijuana plants. Our CBD comes from organically cultivated craft hemp that is minimally processed. Not to brag, but that makes it pretty awesome.
Full spectrum describes hemp extract that has been minimally processed to include the maximum amount of compounds present in the original plant. Some say this adds to CBD’s effectiveness, and we like to keep things as natural as possible.
We’re excited to continue our partnership with East Fork Cultivars to source our CBD. East Fork is a USDA organic certified hemp farm in Southwest Oregon, our home state! They’re a rad group of people deeply committed to environmental responsibility, science-based education, and social justice. Oh, and their mascot is a llama — what’s not to love?

East Fork’s craft hemp extract has a subtle piney, citrusy, and slightly nutty flavor to it, which complements our kombucha much like our botanicals. The hemp flavor is nuanced but never overpowering, and even serves to highlight other herbal, fruity, and botanical notes. In other words, we really dig it and we hope you do too.
CBD alone is considered non-intoxicating, meaning it won’t make you feel high. It affects everyone differently, but many people experience a calming or relaxing effect. Because our CBD comes from full spectrum hemp oil, it contains trace amounts of THC — the signature chemical compound in marijuana that has intoxicating effects. That said, the amount of THC is below the legal limit, and shouldn’t make you feel high unless you are especially sensitive to THC.
If you are planning on taking a drug test, please consult your doctor, employer, or testing company before consuming CBD products. Because full spectrum hemp oil might contain trace amounts of THC, there is always a chance that a very sensitive test, or one that is not sophisticated enough to distinguish between different cannabinoids, could show a false positive — and we certainly don’t want that to happen to you!
CBD is a non-intoxicating plant compound that many people use for gentle physical and mental relaxation. CBD is said to bring benefits such as anxiety-reduction, anti-inflammatory properties, and improved sleep. Of course, always check in with your doctor before taking CBD for what ails you. Contrary to what our name might suggest, Brew Dr. is not a doctor!
The Farm Bill of 2018 made it federally legal to grow hemp and extract CBD; however, there are many location-specific restrictions involved with infusing CBD into food or drinks, so we are sticking with selling Tranquil in certain states for now.
The FDA is still studying CBD and has not approved it as a food additive or dietary supplement. Consumers must use their own discretion in consuming ingestible CBD products like Tranquil. For more information about the FDA’s views on CBD, see here.

Brew Dr. Tranquil is currently not certified organic, non-GMO, or Kosher, but most of its ingredients are. East Fork Cultivars is a USDA organic certified hemp farm, but the CBD we sourced for Tranquil does not yet have these certifications — it will very soon!
